Can i speak to someone about joining?

Yes! But you must first fill out the agent application. We get many requests for more information. We ask everyone to read the website before scheduling a call. We want people to know what is involved in becoming an agent before the call.

HOw do i sign up?

You will first fill out a new agent application. If you would like a phone call, you can schedule it after the application is completed. You will get a link after you fill out the form. No phone calls are scheduled without this application filled out. See the homepage for the link for the application. It does not commit you to joining Dugan's Travels, but provides us with information to know if we are a fit for one another.

what does it cost to join?

The joining fee for Dugan's Travels is $350/agent, and covers all expenses* for the first year of affiliation. Joining fee must be paid by credit card. *Some terms and conditions apply. Please contact us for more details.  More details is located HERE

What does the insurance cover and should I get my own?

We are insured by Gulf Underwriters. The policy is $1 million dollars with a $5,000 deductible.  We encourage agents to get their own policy to cover their business.  However, you are able to ride onto our policy which covers ALL agents.  If you have your own insurance, please provide proof upon joining the agency. The insurance must be in your name. It must be $1 million dollars.  You will not have an insurance renewal fee as long as you have proof of your own insurance.

Am I an employee of Dugan's Travels?

No, you are not an employee. You are an independent contractor and can use your own business name.  You will earn a 1099 if you qualify at the end of the year to handle your taxes.

What if I am experienced agent?

We do offer a program for experienced agents.  To qualify, you would need to have documentation of $10,000 or more in commission via 1099.  Please note the experience on the application.

How does Dugan's Travels communicate with agents?

Our team is available online at our agent-only website, Facebook group, by email and by phone. We also offer webinars regularly as well as in person events.  We like to get to know all our agents.

Can I sell airline tickets?

Most airlines do not pay commission. For those that do, Dugan's Travels has been provided an online account to receive commission. We do not issue airline tickets directly, but work with suppliers who do. An example of one such supplier is Farebuzz.com. Alternatively, you can book tickets for clients with the airline directly and charge a separate service fee. By doing so you are covered under the agency E & O policy. Please be aware that selling airline tickets is not a successful way to make money in this business.

What is the commission split?

We start agents off at 70%.  You can move up at 6 months and again at 12 months.  See more details HERE

what can I book?

Hotels, rental cars, train tickets, airline tickets, cruises, tours, theme parks, Disney World passes, and other attractions worldwide. The possibilities are endless! As an agent of Dugan's Travels, you can leverage our vast network of over 400 suppliers to create memorable vacation experiences for your clients. And for non-commissionable components like airline tickets, you can charge a service fee through our merchant service.

HOw will I book?

There is no one way to make bookings. Each supplier is different, and has different rules and processes for booking. Our agents have access to over 400 trusted suppliers - those that we know work well with agents, pay commission, and pay timely - to choose from to best service their clients. We don't have one website where you can book everything because there is no such thing.

can i charge a service fee to clients?

Absolutely. Dugan's Travels can charge your clients a service fee through our merchant account.  We pay 95% on service fees.

How many hours do I need to work?

It is YOUR business and you get to choose when you work. It is expected that you are checking your email and logging on to the agent website regularly. When clients are traveling, you are on call 24/7. Dugan's does not have an 800 line for your clients to call in an emergency. However, many of our suppliers do have that option. You need to be available for your clients should they run into any problems while traveling.

When do I get paid?

You are paid after travel is completed by the client and the payment has been received by the supplier. Rule of Thumb: 30-60 days after the clients has RETURNED from travel. Commission is paid by direct deposits twice per month, on the 5th and 20th. (Payment days that fall on a weekend or holiday will be paid the next business day.)  We try to pay our agents as soon as possible.

Will I be allowed to get travel agent discounts?

Agents must be affiliated with Dugan's Travels for at least 6 months and actively selling before we will grant approval to participate in a FAM trip, to use our agency ID information for the purpose of taking advantage of discounted travel, or to sign off on an application for an IATA or CLIA card. Note that many supplier-offered industry discounts require the agent to hold an industry-issued card such as IATA or CLIA. Please refer to these organizations directly for information on agent qualification and enrollment.

Other fees?

Our support fees and fees for insurance are billed annually in advance. Postage - which we try to keep as low as possible for you. Most tickets are electronic so there are no tickets to be mailed. For things that must be mailed, we will mail priority mail, regular mail, or FedEx depending on the urgency.

How will I get customers?

There is no one way to gain customers. Using our in-house, supplier and consortia resources, you can learn a variety of ways to promote and build your business, both within your local community and online.

When can I start making bookings?

As soon as you complete the New Agent Orientation, you can begin making bookings.

can I get a website?

Please refer to this page HERE

How does the client make payments?

You are the point of contact for your client the whole way through the booking process.  You will get their credit card information and either call the supplier, enter it on the supplier's website, or the booking engine you are using.  You have the ability to use our system to have your client safely send you this information.  There are some suppliers who do offer the client the ability to pay online using their system too.

how do I know this is not a scam or pyramid scheme?

The only real way to know if we are legitimate is to do your research. You can also read about us on industry sites like Host Agency Review and Find a Host. We are in good standing with ARC, NACTA, IATAN, CLIA, and Travel Leaders Network. We are registered with the state of CA, FL, and WA.

Our agents do not get anything for recruiting.  That is not part of our program.  Those who want to join us are going to be working as travel advisors, not a recruiting agent.

how much can I make?

There is no one answer to this.  You are running a business.  It depends on how much you do and how much you make.  If you work hard at building your business, the sky is the limit.  If you do nothing at all, you will not make anything.  Businesses take time to build.  You must work to succeed.
